Leif David became a full-time magician in 2008 and in just a few short years has become one of the most sought-after entertainers in British Columbia Canada performing over 160 shows annually. His family-friendly show can be seen across the province at corporate events, birthday parties, festivals, weddings, and private parties. He has received awards at international magic competitions, as well as business excellence awards from the community.
Now Leif wants to give back to the magic community by sharing what he’s learnt so far and stir up discussion on how to improve the art.
Leif first became interested in magic as a shy eight year old after receiving a magic kit from his uncle for Christmas. He was so shy that he wouldn’t even talk to kids his own age, but that all changed once he began performing magic. He found that even with a few simple tricks from a magic set that he could amaze adults, teachers, and even his classmates. With his new confidence he was inspired to visit the local library where he took out every book on magic that he could find. He knew what he wanted to be when he grew up.
During elementary school Leif began honing his craft by performing at daycares and senior centres for free. Throughout high school he continued to master his craft by performing at festivals, birthday parties, and corporate events. Although he wanted to become a full-time magician after graduating, his high school counsellors encouraged him to choose a more traditional career in computers.
Leif attended Okanagan College where he graduated with a diploma in Networking Engineering. After completing his program his passion for performing was still stronger than ever and he created Ali K. Zam Productions.
Once again books became his mentors where he began studying business, marketing and magic. He’s been featured in local newspapers, radio and appeared on National Television. His close up magic and stage show has won him international awards and recognition.
Now Leif hopes to encourage the next generation to pursue their dreams. To inspire young students interested in magic he also created a DVD that teaches 12 easy-to-learn magic tricks for children 6 and up. Leif David’s DVD can be found in many local libraries waiting to be found by a shy 8 year old.
